1st Grade
My name is Debbie Harris. I grew up in Durango. My love of working with children began when I was able to help with the children in my mother’s daycare home which she ran for 40 years. I graduated from Fort Lewis College and I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development from Adams State College. I have been lucky enough to have been a part of this wonderful little school since 1993. I have been a 1st grade teacher for 23 years. I absolutely love watching the excitement of my students when they understand concepts, make connections and discover the joy of reading. I love to help students discover their strengths and develop their talents. I believe that each and everyone in my class has something special to share with our entire class and that we can all learn from each other. We have such an amazing school community and I am so thrilled that I can be a part of it each and every day.
