The first few weeks of school have been busy! Given this, I wanted to send out a letter with current events and updates.
Staffing Shifts: As mentioned in my August 20th newsletter, we welcomed some great new staff members to our FLME team. However, since this communication, there have been additional changes.
First, our longtime administrative assistant, Denise Herrera, has left our school. She received a great job opportunity working with the Family Center so she is onto new adventures in a new job, with new challenges. She will be greatly missed as she was a core part of our team but is still a strong part of the community. Also, Kay Woodworth, one of our dynamic paraprofessionals, is leaving FLME too. While she will no longer be here daily, you still might see her as a sub. Finally, our HSP (Health Service Provider), Cindy, is no longer at FLME as she had to attend to family matters outside of Colorado.
As always, our focus is on our students. We will continue to provide a safe, healthy learning environment despite these many changes. We are in the process of hiring for our administrative assistant as well as paraprofessional position. We will also follow suit with hiring an HSP. Reach out if you are interested!
Upcoming Library Event: Join the library for a fun family event! On Friday, September 17 at 6pm, our library is hosting a books and blankets event with a book and dinner provided. Please reach out to the library for more information and/or to RSVP: call 970-588-3331 or email Chris Conrad at [email protected].
No school 9/27: Reminder...Monday, September 27 is a teacher professional development day; there is no school.
Virtual Open Houses: Please be on the lookout for communication from your classroom teacher around their upcoming virtual open house. During September, each teacher will host one of these so that you can meet them, get updates, and get a peek in your student’s learning space.
Masks: Please remember to send your student with a clean mask (or two) every day. As well, if anyone wants to donate masks, please contact the front office as many students prefer the cloth masks over the surgical ones.
Illness Practices & Process: Thank you parents for doing such a great job reporting student illnesses to us as well as keeping your children home when they are sick. This helps our school stay healthy, safe, and in person. With this, we will continue screening all students and staff daily for a fever and COVID related symptoms upon entering the building. Also, if your student is absent, please call the front office in the morning to report your student's absence at (970) 588-3331. Pre-arranged absences must be coordinated with the student's teacher two weeks prior to their absence using the pre-arranged absence form.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. We have an incredible community of learners at FLME!
