Welcome Events Help Students Transition To Middle And High School

Students and their families will meet school leaders, learn about the school and district's vision, and explore career pathways and extracurricular activities available to them. These events are free.

  • Jan. 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Escalante Middle School Welcome Night, 141 Baker Lane. This event is for third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students and their families.
  • Jan. 16, 5:30-7:00 p.m – 8th Grade Family Night, Impact Career Innovation Center at Durango High School, 2390 Main Ave. This event is for eighth-grade students and their families. This event is for eighth-grade students and their families. Hear ideas for empowering your high school children to discover their passions to make a positive impact on the world. Explore what types of school experiences lead to the greatest internal reward for young adults. Learn how Durango School District is redesigning academic programs to support students finding their purpose, passion, and excitement.
  • Jan. 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Miller Middle School Welcome Night, 2608 Junction St. This event is for third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students and their families.
  • Jan. 22, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Durango High School welcomes you to our 8th grade Registration Informational night for students and families to learn more about our school. Parents and prospective students will have the opportunity to explore career pathways and core courses offered at DHS.  Families will also be able to visit the clubs, sports and activities fair.
