Activities That Promote Learning

Fort Lewis Mesa offers a variety of engaging activities for students to learn and grow, including:
 
  • Read-a-Thon: every year for two weeks we hold a read-a-thon to encourage reading. Our students and staff read over 150,000 minutes in those two weeks
  • Flat Stanley – travels the world and returns with gifts and information for our 1st graders
  • Parents volunteer on a regular basis to do presentations and demonstrations on everything from Fire safety to science experiments
  • Field trips to Mesa Verde, Discovery Museum, Durango Nature Studies
  • Career development with each class
  • Creative Arts Festival to showcase student art and writing work
  • Character education programs
  • 5,2,1,0 Healthy Fitness challenge for all students and staff
  • 5th grade Famous Person in History presentations
