April 2026 bond update: Big Picture renovations nearly complete, new workforce housing application window Durango Big Picture High School's new home is 99% complete, and the district has opened a new workforce-housing application window and begun constructing a roadway extension leading to the Three Springs Elementary School campus. Funded by the 2024 Investing in Our Schools bond, these milestones provide essential facilities and support for DSD's dedicated educators and students.

Durango School District schools earn state recognition for student growth Two Durango School District elementary schools are once again being recognized at the state level for their strong student growth and achievement. Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School and Needham Elementary School have earned the 2026 Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award from the Colorado Department of Education.
